Voters in Maine on Tuesday rejected an Indian Tribe bid to build a new harness racetrack and slots facility in the state located in WashingtonCounty. Although 70 percent of the voters in that county voted “yes,” the rest of the state was against the proposal, with the final tally being around a 52-48 percent majority.
Voters in PenobscotCounty were evenly divided in the voting, but the voters in the city of Bangor—home to Bangor Raceway which has slot machines—turned the proposal down 54-46 percent. YorkCounty voters were 55-percent “no,” while voters in CumberlandCounty were 54-percent “no.”
