Majestic Son the new master

Return Home
October 28, 2006 Send To A Friend  | Print View

Majestic Son and Glidemaster locked eyes shortly past the half and dueled the rest of the mile, but it was Glidemaster who blinked first and Majestic Son went on to win the $500,000 Breeders Crown for 3-year-old trotting colts in 1:54.2.

Trevor Richie drove the Angus Hall colt to a three-quarter length win for the Majestic Son Stable and trainer Mark Steacy. Here Comes Herbie was third.

Steacy said winning the Breeders Crown may be a bigger thrill than a hockey player winning the Stanley Cup.

“When I started in this business at eight or nine years old I read magazines about training a Breeders Crown winner. This is just a dream come true,” Steacy said.

Majestic Son has now made $1,319,271 this year on the strength of 14 wins in 19 starts.

Make You Mine and driver Mike Lachance crossed the finish line fourth, but were placed 10th by the judges for traveling inside at least three pylons in the final turn.
