Tara Hills has announced that Majestic Son 3,1:52.2, a winner of $1,993,157, has arrived at his new home in Port Perry, Ont., to begin his new career as a stallion.
The 4-year-old son of Angus Hall was voted the 2006 O'Brien Award as Canada's 3-Year-Old Trotting Colt and Horse of the Year.
"We've collected Majestic Son and he is a model stallion, but due to the fact that he is a ridgling, we are being conservative with his book," said Tara Hills' general manager David Heffering. "His semen has been evaluated and we are very pleased with what we have seen so far. Hopefully things will go well so we will be able to increase his book. Preparations are presently underway for freezing semen and it will be available for use in North America and Europe."
In 38 career starts, Majestic Son retired with a record of 22-5-3, a mark of 1:52.2(s) and $1,993,157 in purse earnings. Out of the King Conch mare Celtic Contessa, Majestic Son's career was highlighted when he bested his archrival Glidemaster on four occasions in the Champlain, Goodtimes, Canadian Trotting Classic and Breeders Crown. As a 2 year old Majestic Son established a mark of 1:55.4 over the seven-eighths mile course at Mohawk Racetrack. At three he won in 1:55 on a half-mile track (Flamboro Downs), 1:54.4 over a five-eighths mile track (Georgian Downs) and 1:52.2 on a seven-eighths mile track (Mohawk Racetrack). At four in 2007 he won the Frank Ryan Memorial Trot in a track and Canadian Record time of 1:53 over a five-eighths mile track. (Tara Hills press release)
