Malabar Man, Camluck elected to Hall Of Fame

Malabar Man 3,1:53.1 ($2,143,903) and Camluck p,T1:48.4 ($1,003,260) have been elected to The Harness Racing Living Horse Hall of Fame by member of The Harness Racing Museum & Hall of Fame. Stanley Bergstein, chairman of the Living Horse Hall of Fame nominating committee announced the results which showed Malabar Man receiving 31 percent of the votes cast and Camluck receiving 25 percent of the votes. Runners-up were Miss Easy with 24 percent of the votes and Varenne with 20percent.

 

In 1997 Malabar Man won his second consecutive Breeders Crown, and also won the Hambletonian and the Breeders Crown in the same year. He earned USTA's 1996 Two-Year-Old Colt Trotter, 1997 Three-Year-Old Colt Trotter and Harness Horse of the Year honors.

 

As a two-year-old Malabar Man won 13 of 15 starts, earning $464,041. His wins included the Breeders Crown, Harold Dancer Memorial and New Jersey Futurity. He was named the 1996 USTA Two-Year-Old Colt Trotter of the Year.

 

At three, Malabar Man won 13 of 16 starts, earning  $1,679,862. His wins included a New Jersey Sire Stake and final, the Historic Cup, Beacon Course Trot elimination and final, Hambletonian elimination and final, American-National, a heat of the World Trotting Derby taking his record of 1:53.1, the Breeders Crown and the Orsi Mangelli Trot. Malabar Man's earnings of $1,679,862 were the highest single season total recorded by a trotter in North America from 1997 through 2003. He was listed second in 2004 and 2005. Malabar Man was voted USTA Three-Year-Old Colt Trotter and Horse of the Year in l997. He was also named New Jersey Standardbred of the Year.

 

Malabar Man has sired 29 in 1:55 and 229 in 2:00 with earnings over $25 million and 70 $100,000 winners. Outstanding performers include Power To Charm 3,1:53.1, fastest 3-year-old colt trotter in 2003; Breeders Crown 2-year-old filly trot winners Flirtin Miss and Pick Me Up,  Merrie Annabelle winner Reinvent and NJSS Champions Funny Malentine and Malabar Maple. He is the grandsire of Possess The Magic 3,1:53.2  ($1.044 million), winner of the 2006 Breeders Crown Two-Year-Old Filly Trot.

 

Camluck highlighted his racing career winning the Breeders Crown at four and was voted the 1991 O'Brien Award Older Pacing Horse of the Year. He retired winning 26 races, time-trialing in 1:48.4, and lifetime earnings of $1,003,260.

 

Camluck is currently one of the most successful sires in North America. He was the Leading Moneywinning Sire in North America and Leading Moneywinning Sire by Gait in 2001, 2005 and 2006. His progeny amassed $15,486,801 in 2006, making him the richest single-season pacing sire of all time. He ranked second in these categories in 2003 and 2004. Camluck ranked second as a first crop sire in 1996. He was the Leading Moneywinning Sire of 2 and 3-year-olds in 2001 and ranked second in 2003 and 2006. As a Leading Sire of $100,000 Winners, this son of Cam Fella ranked second in 2002, 2003 and 2006 and ranked third in 2001 and 2004. Camluck was the leading Ontario Money Winning Sire from 2001 through 2006, ranking second in 1999 and 2000.

 

Camluck has sired 1,324 starters with 444 in 1:55 and 29 in 1:50. Their earnings total over $114 million with 315 $100,000 earners, 134 $200,000 winners, five $1 million and one $2 million winners.

 

Impressive offspring include Burning Point 6,1:49.2 ($2,807,794) winner of the 2003 and 2006 Breeders Crown,  Invitro 4,1:50s ($1,875,205) winner of the 2004 ONSS Super final, Casimir Camotion 6,1:48.3f ($1,318,118) winner of the 2004 Canadian Pacing Derby, DM Dilinger 5,1:49.3s ($1,226,789) and Intrepid Seelster 4,1:50.1 ($1,037,807).

 

Camluck has sired the dams of 282 starters with 72 in 1:55, four in 1:50, and 29 $100,000 winners, with total earnings nearing $12 million. An outstanding performer is Western Graduate 3,1:51.2h ($582,322) 2006 winner of the Jugette, Adioo Volo, Courageous Lady and the Pennsylvania Championship final. Stats as at October 31, 2007.
