The highly-touted Malicious remained perfect in three career starts with a dominant 1:54.2 tally in one of two $20,000(C) divisions in the opening leg of the Dream Maker Pacing Series for 2-year-old colts and geldings on Monday night at Mohawk Racetrack. The other split went to Whackamole Hanover who stopped the clock in 1:55.4.

In the opening contest, Malicious used tactical speed to land in the pocket early from post four for driver Paul MacDonell through an opening fraction of :27.1. As soon as the field straightened up towards the half, MacDonell sent the strapping son of Bettor's Delight-Silky to command and he never looked back.

Malicious used a blistering :26.3 final quarter to dispose of pocket sitter Rafferty Hanover by 2 1/4 lengths with Keystone Raptor finishing in the third spot.

A $45,000 yearling purchase at last Fall’s Harrisburg Sale, Malicious is now undefeated in three career starts for trainer Dr. Ian Moore who co-owns along with R.G. McGroup Ltd. of New Brunswick and former NHL great Serge Savard of Quebec.

Whackamole Hanover was making his career debut in the second split and turned in a gritty first-over win for driver Jody Jamieson in 1:55.4.

The son of Cam's Card Shark-Western Duel used a :27.4 last panel to finish a length ahead of Mcaracas with Shopping Desire closing late to pick up the show spot.

Whackamole Hanover was a $40,000 yearling purchase at last Fall’s Harrisburg Sale. Tim Pinske does the training for the Pinske Stables of Minnesota and Jim Simpson of Pennsylvania.

The second leg of the Dream Maker Series will go postward next Monday night at Mohawk. (WEG)
