Monticello Raceway will debut as part of its 50th Anniversary season seven new world-class stakes races during June and July, including the $350,000(est.) Nevele Pride for 3-year-old trotting colts and geldings Monday, June 25. Should sufficient entries be received eliminations will then be held one week earlier on Monday, June 18.

Among the headliners in the inaugural Nevele Pride is Manfinity, the winner of the $162,500 Dexter Cup at Freehold Raceway on May 12. The son of Hambletonian winner Malabar Man took a 2-year-old record of 1:57.3 and earned $123,647. Currently the colt has two wins and a second in three seasonal starts and purses of $95,714.

Manfinity is owned in Wilmington, Del., by M and L of Delaware Inc. and trained by Larry Rathbone

Though he is yet to begin his sophomore campaign Ogham, owned by Bob Burgess and Karin Olsson Burgess of Milton, Ont., and trained by Blair Burgess, the Andover Hall colt comes in to the event with terrific credentials. Last December Ogham won the $432,700 Valley Victory at the Meadowlands in a time of 1:57.

Both Manfinity and Ogham are Hambletonian eligibles, also.

Set to represent the Empire State in the Nevele Pride is New York’s top freshman trotter and last year's New York Sire Stakes Champion, Hitwiththeladies.

The son of Giant Hit had eight wins and two seconds in 10 starts last season and earned a record of 1:59 on a half-mile track and amassed  $195,468  in purse money. It was in the $150,000 NY Sire Stakes final at Saratoga Raceway on Sept. 16 that Hitwiththeladies earned his 2-year-old record of 1:59.

Owned and trained by Allan McCarthy of Hamburg, N.Y., Hitwiththeladies is usually driven by John Flanigen.

In all, 40 freshman colts and gelding have remained eligible to the Nevele Pride. (Monticello)
