Manzi's bike breaks

The popular AdvantEdge sulky promoted by horseman Tom Harmer has been banned at the Meadowlands after a sulky Cat Manzi was riding in collapsed during the post parade for the sixth race Friday night at the track. When horsemen reported for qualifiers at the track Saturday morning, they were advised the bike would not be permitted to be used in races. The bikes have been banned at Freehold Raceway as well.



Manzi was post parading Jet Lag N in the Open Pace for mares when the sulky collapsed and he fell straight to the ground. Racing continued at the track without any further incident and AdvantEdge sulkies were used throughout the night.



AdvantEdge sulkies will not be permitted at New Jersey racetracks until further testing, the Meadowlands annnounced Saturday



"The New Jersey Racing Commission is going to review the matter, and we hope to have it resolved as soon as possible," said Meadowlands Vice President and General Manager Chris McErlean.
