As the pacers made their way through the final turn, Velvet Eileen Velvet Eileen retained control of the race through mid-stretch, but had no answer for the eleventh-hour heroics of Hypnotize, who surged down the center of the track to claim the lead in the shadow of the wire, prevailing by a neck. Hypnotize returned $7.80, $3.80, and $2.40 for the victory. Velvet Eileen brought in $3.80 and $3.20 for second, while Scott’s Sweety (David Ingraham) paid $2.40 for third.
