Mare showdown on hold

The much-anticipated showdown between Rainbow Blue and Loyal Opposition will have to wait as Loyal Opposition has been scratched "sick" out of Monday's opening round of the Classic Series at Dover Downs.



"My mare came up with a little temperature and we also found a pus pocket in her foot," Loyal Opposition's trainer Erv Miller told The Horseman by cell phone from the Dover Downs paddock early Monday evening. "I think the temperature came from the infection from there. So we had to scratch her."
