Armbro Deuce set a new Canadian and Flamboro Downs track record and equaled the world mark with a 1:50.2 win in the $500,000(C) Confederation Cup Sunday afternoon. Driven by George Brennan, the 3-year-old son of Western ideal won his elimination and then led at every call in the final to defeat Western Ace by 3 3/4 lengths.

Supplemented into the Confederation Cup at a cost of $25,000 to his connections, Armbro Deuce captured his elim in 1:54.3, besting Western Ace by a half length. Logical Thrill was third. In the first elim it was the Luc Ouellette-driven Eagle Luck who scored in 1:54.1 over Secluded Island and Jake Of Diamonds.

In the final it was all Armbro Deuce as he led through fractions of :26.4, :55.1 and 1:22.3 before closing out the mile with a :27.4 final quarter. Western Ace (Ron Pierce) chased for runner-up honors with Secluded Island (Roger Mayotte) third.

Armbro Deuce's final 1:50.2 clocking set a new Flamboro record, lowering American Ideal's mark from the 2005 Confederation Cup. It equaled the world record for sophomore colts on a half-mile track shared by Million Dollar Cam and Allamerican Captor.

Blair Burgess trains Armbro Deuce for the ownership group that includes his father Bob, his wife Karin, and Neal Cooper and Richard Kostoff.
