Marty's Charm blistered his final quarter in :27.4 to discourage all challengers en route to his second consecutive victory in the $25,000 Preferred Pace at The Meadows on Monday. Away second, Marty's Charm made the lead with a quarter-pole move and withstood the strong first-over bid of No Nonsense Yankee. Although he was used hard in that duel, Marty's Charm responded to the urging of Randy Tharps to reel off his impressive final panel. He prevailed in 1:52.2, 1 1/2 lengths better than the closing KF St. Patrick. Sneaky B Skipalong saved show. Paul Corey trains and Martha and Gerald Baluck own Marty's Charm, a 4-year-old gelded son of Aces N Sevens-Bets Mae who made it to the races only this year. He's been a quick study, winning half his 26 starts and $134,410. (The Meadows)
