Marty’s Charm chased on the outside for more than a half mile but still closed in :27.3 to capture the $25,000 Preferred Pace on Monday at The Meadows. Marty’s Charm was sitting third before the half when Randy Tharps sent him after the leader, Hennessy Hanover. The 4-year-old gelded son of Aces N’ Sevens-Bets Mae finally subdued Hennessy Hanover in deep stretch, downing that rival by three-quarters of a length in 1:51.4. Tarver Hanover was a close-up third. Marty’s Charm now has won 10 of his 21 career starts for trainer Paul Corey and owners Martha and Gerald Baluck. Dave Palone drove six winners on the 15-race card. (The Meadows)
