Belovedangel, winner of the Breeders Crown final, and Born Storyteller, a 20-1 longshot, won the two $30,523 Matron Stakes 3-Year-Old Filly Pace elimination divisions on Tuesday at Dover Downs.

Belovedangel, overlooked at 5-1, continued her late fall success story, chasing odds-on favorite Cabrini Hanover and Brian Sears for most of the mile. Driver Ron Pierce sent Belovedangel to the outside at the top of the lane and blew past for a 1:52.4 victory in the first of two elims. Cabrini Hanover hung on to finish second in front of West End, with George Brennan in the bike. Digga Digga, driven by Pat Berry, made next week's final by finishing fourth.

Born Storyteller, a Badlands Hanover filly and no stranger to Dover Downs fans, pulled a stunning 20-1 upset in the second $30,562 elim. The Kelvin Harrison conditioned filly enjoyed a perfect two-hole trip behind Maytime Hall and after turning for home blasted along the passing lane to post a 1:53.3 victory with Jonathan Roberts at the controls.

Maytime Hall held on for second. Fox Valley Zena, with Andy Miller, finished third but was placed fourth for interference against Modern Medicine, piloted by Brian Sears. Modern Medicine was placed third with Fox Valley Zena fourth, all making next Tuesday's $$183,375 Matron final.
