Maywood offers reward

March 18, 2005 Send To A Friend  | Print View

A $10,000 reward has been offered by Maywood Park for information leading to the arrest of the two gunmen who robbed the racetrack March 2 and the return of the undisclosed amount of cash.

According to the Cook County sheriff's statement, the two men confronted a security guard at about 8 a.m. shortly after an armored truck delivered cash to the track. The men bound the guard and took his keys, which they used to enter a room where money was kept. They placed an undisclosed amount of money in two nylon gym bags, then fled in the truck, according to the sheriff's statement.

According to the sheriff's office, one of the suspects was described as a black man between 25 and 30 years old, about 5 feet 10 inches tall with a stocky build and a thin beard line, wearing a skull-type cap, blue jacket and blue jeans, and carrying a silver handgun. The other was described as a black man about 5 feet 2 inches tall with a thin build and wearing a gray hooded sweat jacket with white letters on the front, possibly bearing the word Polo.

The truck the two men used was also described as an older white Ford pickup with a dark-color cap on the truck bed, a roof antenna similar to those used for citizens band radios and a pair of dark vertical bars attached to the front bumper.
