The 2-year-old pacing colt MCA, a son of Real Desire, sharply won his third straight Kentucky Sire Stakes (KYSS) leg on Thursday night, Aug. 30, at The Red Mile, and prevented a big New Jersey bettor from taking a hit on a six-figure show bet, although a minus pool was created.
There was only $3,903 in the win pool for MCA and another $2,998 in the place pool, but $298,499 of the entire $303,962 show pool was bet on MCA via the New Jersey simulcasting hub.
With his easy, under-wraps victory in 1:53.4, MCA appears to be the colt to beat in the $200,000 KYSS final on Sept.
MCA won his third straight Kentucky Sires Stakes leg, one of seven wins for driver Dave Palone. Palone drove MCA for trainer Mickey Burke.
Dave Palone posted one of his seven wins behind MCA. Among his other winners on the night were Global Glamour in a $50,000 KYSS leg; the 2-year-old pacing colt Warning Zone (1:52.4) in his $25,000 KYSS leg; and Cuz She Can (1:54) in a KYSS for 2-year-old pacing fillies.
