The Meadowlands recorded its highest handle of the year on Saturday with a total of $4,657,056 wagered on Meadowlands races at live and simulcast locations.
The figure marked a 27-percent increase over the comparable Saturday night in 2007. The 13-race May 17 card featured the $284,000 Graduate final, won by Mr. Feelgood, $200,000 Arthur J. Cutler Memorial, which went to Corleone Kosmos, and the opening round of the New Jersey Sire Stakes for 3-year-old pacing colts. The three NJSS winners were: McCedes (1:52), Camshaft Hanover (1:51.2) and Harley D Hanover (1:51.3). McCedes and Harley D Hanover are eligible to the $500,000 SBOA/Anthony Abbatiello New Jersey Classic on May 31. Eliminations for the race are next Saturday, May 24. (Meadowlands)
