A necropsy done on Lislea Isabella, one of two horses that died within minutes of each other on Feb. 4 at The Meadows, reportedly shows that the cause of death was natural causes of either exercise-induced pulmonary hemorrhaging, an electrolyte imbalance or some other cause.
The 8-year-old mare Lisla Isabella collapsed and died while on the track prior to racing. In the next race about 15 minutes later, the 7-year-old mare Little Bit Tricky broke her leg and was euthanized by an on-site veterinarian.
