The Meadows Standardbred Owners Association (MSOA) is pleased to announce a charity fundraising event this Thursday, October 29 that will benefit the Breast Cancer Program at Magee-Womens Hospital of UPMC.That night, two special races will be held.  Race #6 on the evening’s card will feature an all-female driving group. In addition, the men will compete in race #8. The MSOA has pledged its full commission from the race – the horsemen’s group’s profit from all wagering money – to the Breast Cancer Program at Magee.

In addition, The Meadows Racetrack and Casino has announced that it will match the horsemen’s contribution, doubling the benefit for breast cancer patient care, education and research.  Magee is pleased to note that 100 percent of the donations will go directly to the program.

“This is a unique opportunity for us to further support Magee’s Breast Cancer Program,” said Judy Herstine, Administrator, Women’s Cancer Program at Magee. “Join Magee and the drivers for a fun night benefiting a worthy cause.”

“The MSOA is proud to organize this event for a very worthy local cause,” said MSOA President Rich Gillock.  “We hope the fans will enjoy wagering on these events and support breast cancer research in the process.  It’s a battle for bragging rights between the drivers, to see which race brings in more money.”

Post time for the first race on Thursday evening’s card will be 6:20 p.m. Anyone that would like to donate separately to the MSOA’s contribution may do so by calling 724-228-3644. (MSOA)
