Meadows racing returns to Comcast

August 29, 2008 Send To A Friend  | Print View

The Meadows announced today that The Meadows Racing Network (MRN), featuring all live harness racing cards, will be broadcast by Comcast on Channel 190 beginning Tuesday, September 2.

Each broadcast will begin at 12 noon, with Roger Huston hosting a preview show and calling the races. The signal will be available to 175,000 Comcast cable subscribers in Pittsburgh and its suburbs, including Washington and Canonsburg. The Meadows currently races each Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

“The broadcast is a great tool for our fans and our horsemen,” said John Marshall, Vice President of Meadows Racing, “and it is important to the future of Meadows live racing and account wagering.”

Live Meadows racing had been available to cable subscribers through Comcast’s coverage of Horse Racing Television (HRTV), a national racing network that pre-empted its programming to accommodate Meadows racing. HRTV discontinued its pre-emptions May 1, forcing home viewers to travel to the track or OTB or view on www.xpressbet.com.

“We are tremendously appreciative of the support our fans and horsemen have shown during this coverage interruption,” Marshall said. “We also thank the Meadows Standardbred Owners Association and XpressBet for their contributions to the MRN’s distribution.”(The Meadows)
