The Press of Atlantic City is reporting that communications in the form of letters and email show that a member of Gov. Chris Christie’s gaming advisory committee met with representatives of an Atlantic City casino project and then helped guide the administration’s planned policy on casino issues The story, written by Juliet Fletcher, goes on to say that between late February and mid-April, representatives of Revel Entertainment Group, which started but has since halted construction on a $2.5 billion casino in the South Inlet, reached out to the Governor's Office, asking for a meeting not with Christie but with Jon F. Hanson, chairman of the governor's gaming advisory committee. Richard Mroz, a consultant who represents the casino development group, sent an e-mail to the governor's counsel March 8 asking for Hanson's phone number. Hanson is a former head of the state's Sports and Exposition Authority, which includes the Meadowlands sports and racetrack properties, The release of the e-mails, obtained by The Press of Atlantic City through the Open Public Records Act, prompted Hanson to confirm Thursday that his committee has met with the developers and discussed how the government could help them. The three meetings came as Revel looked for a 20-year sales-tax break, which would begin once the casino opens its doors. To read the article click here
