Dr. Peter Boyce, a noted veterinarian and horseman in the harness racing industry and for many years the reproductive veterinarian at Hanover Shoe Farms, died Friday morning at Gettysburg Hospital in Gettysburg, Pa. He was 62 and had battled pancreatic cancer for about three years. Dr. Boyce was at Hanover Shoe Farms for more than 25 years before leaving and becoming an independent consultant for a number of clients. Dr. Boyce was born in London, Ont., the son of a veterinarian. He graduated form the veterinary science program at the University of Guelph and took a job with Hanover Shoe Farms during the time when Albatross and Super Bowl were in the stud barn. Dr. Boyce is survived by five children, three sons, Matthew P. Boyce of Carlisle, Pa., Pete Boyce and Mark Boyce of Hanover, Pa., and two daughters, Erin Boyce of Centreville, Va., and Gemma Boyce of Hanover; and two brothers, Robert Boyce and Bill Boyce, both of Canada.
A memorial service will be held Friday, Aug. 27, at 12 pm at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hanover, Pa. Friends and relatives will be received from 10 am to 12 pm at the church.
