Memphis Glow ($2.40) was a repeat winner in Friday's $7,000 Mares Open Pace with a near gate-to-wire 1:55.1 win over Sugar Scoot Brown and Shell I Attack. The time for the mile equaled the winner's lifetime best, set here last month.
Shell I Attack took the lead after being parked by the eventual winner, but the 1-5 favorite, driven by Matt Kakaley, retook immediately and controlled the race from there. She won her ninth race in 35 seasonal starts and pushed her career earnings to $126,473 for owner Jay Ankeney of Chagrin Falls and co-owner, trainer Larry Dey Ermand. The winner is a four-year-old daughter of Memphis Flash, from the Cambest mare Liz Hall. Fractions were 27.2, 58 and 1:26.3. (Northfield Park)
