The Metro 6 Shooter returns Saturday night with $30,000 added to the net pool for the Meadowlands/Yonkers pick six wager.
The Metro 6 Shooter pool surpassed $70,000 on June 19. With plenty of winning favorites at both tracks, 48 tickets contained the winning combination (2, 1, 2, 5, 6, 9) worth $1,027. A straight $1 parlay on the combination would have returned $279, but with $30,000 in added money, the Metro 6 Shooter rewarded horseplayers with close to four times that amount.
Not only did a record number of six-of-six tickets work their way through the payout windows, but another 859 tickets holding five-of-six also cashed for $19.10.
This may not seem like a big hit, but for Twinspires.com player Mike Somone Jr., it was just the inspiration he needed to dig a bit deeper this coming week: "I did my homework and put together a small $8 ticket and nailed 5 out of 6. I doubled my money, but more importantly I think I can nail the Metro next week. I know I will be going deeper in the wager for sure."

The Metro 6 Shooter is a $1 minimum wager. If nobody selects six winners, 25 percent of the net pool is paid out to tickets with the most winners selected correctly and 75 percent of the net pool will be carried over to the following Saturday. The wager is held under New Jersey Racing Commission Rules, with a 20 percent takeout rate. A consolation payout will be in effect every Saturday, whether there are any correct 6 of 6 winning tickets or not. (Meadowlands)
