The Metro 6 Shooter, a cooperative effort of Yonkers Raceway, the Meadowlands and the Standardbred Owners Association of New York, is set to begin on Saturday, June 5. The SOA of New York has begun publicizing the new wager and has assembled some quick facts about it.

Of particular note, two of the races will have "overflow" fields--12 horses at the Meadowlands, and 10 at Yonkers. Below are some facts about the Metro 6 Shooter. The Metro 6 Shooter is scheduled to be televised live on the TVG network.

--Pick 6
--$1 minimum wager
--$30,000 added to net pool
--4 Meadowlands races (races 4, 5, 6 & 7)
--2 Yonkers races (races 5 & 7)
--1 "overflow" race at each track (12-horse Meadowlands field; 10-horse Yonkers field)
--wager governed by New Jersey Racing Commission
--pool divided with 75 percent to any ticket(s) with six correct and 25 percent as consolation to next-most correct; (if no one selects all six winners, 25 percent paid out as consolation and 75 percent is carried over to next Saturday)
-- past performances to be made available on both Yonkers and Meadowlands web-sites, both tracks' live programs as well as various on-line wagering services
--free downloadable programs from Trackmaster.

The race order, with post times, will be as follows:
Meadowlands race 4—8:04 pm
Meadowlands race 5—8:25 pm
Yonkers race 5—8:37 pm
Meadowlands race 6—8:49 pm
Meadowlands race 7—9:10 pm
Yonkers race 7—9:19 pm

At Yonkers Raceway, the purse for the 10-horse field will be increased by 25 percent and the sixth- and seventh-place finishers will receive the equivalent of four percent and three percent of the purse, respectively. (SOA of New York)
