Michael Graney dies, owned Ohio Horse of Year Hold Your Breath

Michael P. Graney, a longtime Standardbred owner in Ohio and racing enthusiast, died on Tuesday, June 16. Among his many horses was Hold Your Breath, the 1988 Ohio Horse of the Year.
 
Mr. Graney was a fixture each year at the LIttle Brown Jug and had horses with Delaware trainer Billy Walters for many years. He lived in nearby Powell, Ohio.
 
Mr. Graney was a graduate of Duke University and received his JD from Ohio State University. He was a partner in the Columbus law firm of Simpson, Thacher, and Bartlett
 
He is survived by his wife Melinda, daughter Noelle and son Michael, four grandchildren and one step-daughter.
