Michael's Marvel (George Brennan) left from post four and went stride for stride with Toucam Sam (Eric Goodell) to the first turn, stealing a perfect two-hole trip Sunday at Harrah's Chester Casino and Racetrack in the $40,000 Open Handicap Pace. After reaching three-quarters in 123.1, Toucam Sam led the field into the homestretch with Michael's Marvel patiently pursuing in the pocket. Three of Spades (Jonathan Roberts) put in the toughest mile racing at the back of the pack with a stellar third-over final quarter to finish second. Brokaw (David Miller) was fourth-placed-third after a long first-over trip from the half in 55.2. Michael's Marvel capitalized on the open stretch moving smoothly past a fading Toucam Sam and Three of Spades, who was closing briskly from deep stretch, to claim the victory in 151.1. George Brennan said he felt confident with his trip. "He felt good, I knew I had a good horse to follow (Toucam Sam), one who would lead me into the stretch," he said. The win takes the 6-year-old son of Jenna's Beach Boy over $550,000 lifetime and $150,000 in 2008. Michael's Marvel also delivered the early win in a training double for Mark Harder with Irak Attack N (Goodell) delivering a victory in the 13th race. (Harrah's Chester)
