A convoy of 3-year-old fillies–33 in total –was trucked to Woodbine Racetrack on Monday evening for the opening round of the three-week long Niagara Pacing Series, which was written for fillies that were non-winners of $50,000 lifetime as of Oct. 31, 2006.

Roses From Above ($6.90, $4.70, $3.40) took full advantage of her second-over trip in the first $18,000 split for Jack Moiseyev, who guided the Gregg McNair-trainee to the 1:54.4 victory over Promysquous Lady ($5.60, $4.90) and Dee Dee Blue ($5.40).

The homebred daughter of Keystone Raider–Scent From Above, who races for partners Dale Larson and Pamela Larson of Michigan, improved her 2006 record to 6-2-5 in 21 starts with the win. The $9,000(C) payday bumped her lifetime earnings to $35,087(C).

Bare Legs ($14.20, $6.60, $6.50) used an identical, second-over trip en route to posting a 1:56.2 win in the next division for the duo of trainer Paul MacDonell and trainer Kevin O’Reilly, who clicked to win last Saturday’s $48,100(C) OSAS final at Woodbine with U Lucky Guy.

The daughter of Jate Lobel –Sheer Hose held of pocket-sitting Fantasy Jet ($8, $3.90) and gunned down pacesetter Blissful Maddie ($3.60).

Pinske Stables, Kentuckiana Racing Stable, Tom Crouch and Vernonshire Racing Stable share ownership on Bare Legs, who is a six-time winner with career earnings of $51,236(C).

Precious Michelle ($6.60, $3.70, $3.30) romped to a career-best clocking of 1:54.2 in the third division for new owners Sam Lombardo, Dan Towsley and the West Wins Stable, who shelled out $37,000 to purchase the daughter of Artsplace–Michelles Gem at last month’s Harrisburg sale.

Mark MacDonald guided the Casie Coleman-trainee to the victory over Mcmacattack ($5.50, $4.30) and See You Around ($5.80). The career winner of $37,661(C) has assembled a 4-4-4 record in 16 starts this season.

Niagara Queen ($6.40, $3.60, $3) took the final division in a time of 1:55.4 thanks to a strong stretch rally for driver Roger Mayotte and trainer Bob Young.

The Jate Lobell–Believe The Queen miss tipped off cover in the lane en route to the victory over Easy Feelin ($5.70, $3.40) and You Are Precious ($4.50). The career winner of $58,215(C) is owned by Bob Young, Mark Hetherman, Beverley McGrath and James Padgett.
