Michigan Harness Racing Hall of Famer Charlie Kline died on Sunday at age 85. Mr. Kline was the presiding judge at county fairs in Michigan for more than 40 years. He was the speed secretary at the Midland County Fair since 1958 and was instrumental in starting the Spartan Futurity in 1996. Mr. Kline was the owner of many Standardbreds over the years, including Spartan Futurity winner Treetops 2:00h ($37,416). He was inducted into Michigan's Hall of Fame last year. A memorial service will be held sometime this summer.
