Michigan-based trainer Chris Allen lost his home and all the family’s belongings to a fire Saturday, Dec. 13, started by a gas leak believed to be related to the recent installation of a new dryer. Allen, his wife, and several others who resided at the home were not present at the time of the explosion but their 2-year-old son and the grandfather of the child were but they escaped unharmed.

The home was in New Lothrop, Mich., located between Flint and Saginaw. Allen, 26, primarily competes at Sports Creek Raceway but had been racing at Northfield Park since the spring. He only returned to Michigan about a week ago where he was racing again at Sports Creek.
