Longtime Michigan-based horseman Larry Jones, of Jackson, died Sunday, Jan. 27. He was 69.
Along with his wife, Linda, Mr. Jonesraised and raced many very nice horses over his years in the business, Stir Fry, Insipid, Oakmont, Spicy Cinnamon and Casino Showgirl were just a few.
Mr. Jones worked as a meat cutter from the age of 16, but he loved racing horses. He was a longtime owner/driver/trainer/breeder member of the U.S. Trotting Association and lifetime member of the Michigan Harness Horsemen's Association.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Linda; daughter, Tammy; son, Dave (Kari); grandchildren, Dustin (Jessica), Danny, Tiffany, Kortney and Karly; great-grandson, Devin; mother-in-law, Betty; sisters-in-law, Sandra, Jaime and Debbie; and brother, Asil.
