The Michigan Harness Horsemen's Association on Friday posted the following on its website for its membership in regard to ongoing negotiations regarding revenue sharing for possible expanded gaming in the state: As of today (Feb. 5) we are urging horsemen NOT to sign the Racing to Save Michigan petition that is being circulated at Sports Creek Raceway. MHHA and MiHBPA (Michigan Horsemen's Benevolent and Protection Association which represents the Thoroughbred horsemen) have been in negotiations with Dan Adkins on a revenue sharing (to ensure live racing continues) agreement to no avail.
President Brett Boyd spoke with Mr. Adkins today and will be scheduling a negotiating session for Monday of next week. We will notify you if and when an agreement is reached. If no agreement is reached we will have no alternative but to oppose this ballot proposal as written. (MHHA)
