The Michigan Harness Horsemen's Association (MHHA) is reporting that HB4311, the Senate version of legislation to restore $2.5 million in funding for the Michigan Office of Racing Commissioner passed late this morning and as of 2:37 p.m. the bill was concurred with in the House.
The bill now moves to the desk of Governor Jennifer Granholm’s desk for her signature. The Association adds that they have been notified that the Governor intends to sign the bill.
The state’s pari-mutuel tracks would have faced closure at midnight tonight, Nov. 5, if the Commissioner’s Office funding was not restored.
