Michigan Racing Commissioner Christine White announced Monday that Gary Post has been named deputy racing commissioner in charge of regulatory operations for the Office of Racing Commissioner (ORC) effective immediately.

“We are extremely pleased to welcome Gary Post as our new deputy racing commissioner,” said White. "Gary's significant expertise in law enforcement and recent involvement and experience with the ORC and Michigan pari-mutuel horse racing will make significant contributions to our organization.”

Post accepted the deputy racing commissioner position after serving as a special consultant to the ORC in an extensive review of the agency’s duties, operations and performance. Post is a former Michigan State police officer who served with the State Police for 26 years until retiring as a major in 2000.

Commissioner White noted, “Gary Post’s presence will do a great deal to support the ORC’s highest priorities of protecting the integrity of the sport of horse racing and helping to meet the many challenges it faces. His appointment should show all those involved in Michigan horse racing that the ORC is dedicated to delivering positive change for future growth in the industry.”

Post, 55, has a Master’s Degree in criminal justice from the University of Detroit, a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology from Calvin College, and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy. A resident of Holt, Post and his wife, Jeanne, have three adult children and a grandchild. (ORC)
