Mike Allen shows progress

Doctors treating trainer-driver Mike Allen, seriously injured in a motorcycle accident in his hometown of Ocala on Wednesday, are pleased with his progress, according to a report from his sister-in-law, Dawn Allen. Mike Allen is a son of the late Carl Allen and his wife Mae Jean, brother of Dr. Marty Allen and Rod Allen. His brother Chet is a minister in the family's home state of Michigan.



Dawn reports that Mike, who was not wearing a helmet at the time of his collision with an SUV, is becoming more responsive now that sedation has been lightened. He does not have a skull fracture and bleeding in his head has stopped. He does not appear to have any other injuries as serious as the head injury.



"Our Standardbred family has once again come to our rescue with love and prayers from all facets of the business and we are so very grateful," says Dawn Allen.
