Mild upset in series round

Gryffindor nipped 2-5 favorite Jenna's Choice at the wire to win the $22,500 second round of the Robert J. Suslow at the Meadowlands Friday night in a career-best 1:50.3.



Driven by Eric Ledford and trained by Noel Daley, Gryffindor edged Jenna's Choice by a nose. JJ's Gazette was third, 1 1/4 lengths behind.



A 3-year-old son of Dragon Again, Gryffindor won for the fourth time in eight starts this year. He has career earnings of nearly $80,000 for owner Sterlingbrook Farms Inc.



The $70,790 Suslow final is scheduled for Friday, April 22.
