Dexter Nukes, the winner of the 1989 Meadowlands Pace and a sire in Canada for many years, has died at Winbak of Canada at the age of 22. He was euthanized due to multiple infirmities caused by old age.

Dexter Nukes made just won start as a 2 year old but made up for lost time at age 3, winning 19 of 27 starts. He took a mark of 1:51.3 in winning his Meadowlands Pace elim and finished his racing career with earnings of $1,027,620.

George Gilmour trained and drove Dexter Nukes for Thomas Dexter of New York. The son of No Nukes out of the Albatross mare Viking Princess was syndicated and stood at stud at Armstrong Bros. until Winbak acquired the stallion.

Dexter Nukes has sired such notables as Armbro Proposal and She's A Great Lady and is the broodmare sire of A And Gs Confusion, Lady MacBeach and Driven to win.

Winbak said it planned to bury Dexter Nukes alongside Dream Of Glory, Armbro Omaha and Armbro Flight.
