Minn. track plan revived?

The Minnesota Racing Commission has voted 5-3 to reconsider its earlier decision to deny a racing license to the North Metro Harness Initiative, which proposed building a new $37 million harness track in the state.



North Metro has reportedly been trying to work out an agreement with Thoroughbred horsemen at Canterbury Park that would guarantee increased purses there if the harness track did well. It was those concerns regarding competition that prompted several of the commissioners to originally vote against the proposal.
