Miss Scarlett, a $32,000 yearling purchase for owners Charles, Julie and Francene Nash, got up in the final strides to win the $175,000 New Jersey Sire Stakes Final for 2-year-old filly pacers on Wednesday night at the Meadowlands.
Driven by Andy Miller and trained by his wife, Julie, Miss Scarlett bested JK Getupngo by a neck in 1:54.1 over the sloppy track. "I just floated out of there a little bit, tried to get into a flow, wait for some cover and it worked out that way," said Andy Miller. "The favorite [Cartniverous] was following me. I was a little worried about that, but I knew my filly would be strong off the trip she got." Bred by Perretti Farms, Miss Scarlett is a daughter of Red River Hanover and Odds On JP, whose second dam is Makin Smiles, the dam of Die Laughing.
