Mister Big, sent off the 1-9 favorite, led wire to wire to win the $56,650 Winbak Pace for older horses in 1:51 Thursday afternoon at the Delaware, Ohio fairgrounds. Brian Sears was behind the 5-year-old son of Grinfromeartoear as he posted his sixth straight victory, a streak that includes the Breeders Crown, Canadian Pacing Derby and William Haughton Memorial.
Mister Big led through fractions of :27, :55 and 1:23.3 as Won The West and Greg Grismore was safely tucked into the two hole and Ab's Beach Boy and Ron Pierce was first-over.
Mister Big sprinted home in :27.2 to seal the victory. Won The West was second with Ab's Beach Boy third.
"He's got a big motor, when he hits the gas he can really make the speed," said Sears. With the victory, Mister Big increased his career earnings to $2,969,121 for owner Joe Muscara. The win was also his eighth of the year in 10 starts.
"He's pretty big! It's an honor and a privilege to train a horse of this caliber," said trainer Virgil Morgan Jr.
