Mister Big, 2008 Older Pacing Horse of the Year, headlines a field of 10 free-for-allers set to compete in Saturday’s $200,000 Dan Patch Invitational Pace at Hoosier Park Racing and Casino. The Virgil Morgan Jr.-trained horse will look to add to his already impressive $3.2 million-plus bankroll in the track’s signature event, slated as the 13th race on the program. He will start from post six for Brian Sears. Hoosier Cup and Meadowlands Pace champion Art Official has drawn post 10 for trainer Joe Seekman. The son of Art Major was victorious in his 4-year-old debut, winning at Balmoral Park in 1:51. Owned by James and Joyce Jesk’s Sawgrass Farms, Art Official has earned in excess of $1.6 million in his career. Dali, runner-up to Art Official in the Hoosier Cup last year, has drawn post three for trainer Duane Marfisi. The Real Artist horse won in 1:49.3 last week for his connections. Ricky Macomber is listed to drive. Won The West, winner of the 2008 Dan Patch Invitational, is set to defend his title. Greg Grismore is slated to drive for trainer Ron Burke. Other notable entries include Four Leaf Clover winner Southwestern Dream, Winbak Speed and Shark Gesture.
Three local horses, Robin I Scoot, Rocket Fuel and Royalton Star, will also line up behind the gate for the 16th edition of the Dan Patch. Post time is set for 5:01 p.m. EST.
