With a fast early pace, Mister Big used a stretch rally to win the $169,000 Allerage Farms Open Pace in 1:48.1 to close out the Kentucky Futurity Day program at The Red Mile Saturday afternoon.
Palone Ranger was leading the field at the top of the stretch, but several pacers were stacked up and seemed ready to rally. But Mister Big, with David Miller driving, were the only ones to get the job done, hitting the wire a clear winner over Palone Ranger, with Holborn Hanover getting up for third. Early pacesetter Mypanmar faded to 10th and Boulder Creek, who was in striking position on the last turn, never fired in the stretch drive and finished seventh.
Mister Big picked up his 12th victory in 25 starts this year for owner Joseph Muscara and trainer Virgil Morgan Jr. The 4-year-old stallion by Grinfromeartoear had won the first week at Lexington as well, taking an open pace in 1:48.4.
