Misterizi and Tim Tetrick used the cover of Arch Madness to carry them to the stretch before taking the lead mid-way through the lane and drawing away in the $300,000 Nat Ray Invitational Saturday at the Meadowlands, winning in a world record time of 1:51. Arch Madness finished second for Brian Sears while Enough Talk raced third.
In the stretch, favorite Corleone Kosmos faded as Misterizi surged to the lead, collecting his fifth seasonal win in seven starts. The Mr Lavec stallion, trained by Tony Montini, nearly doubled his career earnings with the win. The Mohawk invader is owned by Albina Montini, Eazy Racing and Paul Giammichele, all of Ontario. The winning time dropped Misterizi’s mark by a full two seconds. It also eclipsed Varenne's 1:51.1 world record for older trotting stallions, set at the Meadowlands in 2001.
