According to sources in Springfield, Ill., last Monday, Nov. 6, Tex Moats resigned his position as Chief of the Illinois Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of County Fairs And Horse Racing. During his tenure at the Department of Agriculture, Moats developed a two-class system of races at Illinois county fairs. This past year he proposed ending the World Trotting Derby at Du Quoin and funneling the purse money into races restricted to Illinois Conceived and Foaled horses.
