Moving Pictures posted a stylish, 1:52.1 victory in Friday night’s $40,000(C) Fillies and Mares Open pace at Mohawk Racetrack.
The strapping, 4-year-old daughter of DM Dilinger--Killer Queen came into the race needing less than $80,000 to become the sport's newest millionaire, and talled following a powerful, first-over tally. Her earnings now stand at $939,490 following the victory. With regular driver Mark MacDonald at the controls, Moving Pictures got away fourth in the field of 10 and watched as Double Dream N put up the opening half-mile fraction of :55.1. With the "backfield in motion," MacDonald sent his charge to the outside, and she had only made it up to third on the outside as they approached the three-quarter pole, timed in 1:24. As soon as the field straightened away for home, MacDonald asked Moving Pictures for more and she responded by surging to command and opened enough daylight to hold off a fast-closing Invitro, with Illusionist not far off in third. It has been a dream season for the Casie Coleman-trained Moving Pictures, who now sports eight wins in 16 starts for owners Steve Calhoun and Michael Lindley of Chatham, Ont. She has posted victories in the Classic Series Final, Roses Are Red Final, and Breeders Crown. Moving Pictures still has the Milton Stakes at Mohawk Racetrack left on her schedule this season. (WEG)
