Mohawk ready to set the "pace" on Saturday

World-class racing is on tap this Saturday at Mohawk, $1 million Metro Pace night, as fans will be treated to a number of exciting on-track promotions, including 'Your First Bet On Us.'

The heavily-staked 13-race program also features the $787,000 Canadian Pacing Derby, $610,000 She's A Great Lady Stakes, $246,521 Simcoe Stakes and $100,000 A Spring Of Hope Invitational.

Inaddition to the $75,000 guaranteed early Pick-4 pool that kicks off in race four, handicappers can participate in the Metro Pace Extreme Betting Contest.

Registration starts at 5:30 p.m. in the trackside tent. A $75 buy-in includes a $50 bankroll plus the $25 entry fee. The largest balance across the board wins and the $5,000 prize is split between the top five finishers. Any wager amounts, plus any and all bet types are allowed, with wagering restricted to Mohawk's live card.

Two entries into the Extreme Betting Contest will be given away to two lucky customers who attend the popular Handicapping Seminar hosted by WEG's Greg Gangle, which gets underway at 6:20 p.m. in the trackside tent. Special guest, driver Yannick Gingras, will be on hand to offer insight and answer questions.

'Your First Bet On Us' registration closes at 8 p.m. and the first 1,000 fans who register will receive a free Mohawk T-shirt. Guests must be 18 years and older to register.

Registering before 7 p.m. for �Your First Bet On Us' qualifies fans for a chance to win two VIP seats at the finish line to watch the races. The lucky winner of the �Best Seats at the Track' contest will also receive a $100 cash card, food and beverages, swag and other great giveaways.

Each fan will also be entered into a draw where they have a chance to be a finalist in the Road to the Breeders Crown 2012 Chevy Silverado giveaway.

The night's draw winner will be invited back to Woodbine for the Breeders Crown on Oct. 27 with nine other finalists.

There will be many great contests to enter such as the popular �Winning at the Races' contest,an exciting staple at each major stakes event.

The contestants will be assigned a horse in a particular race, witheach fanrepresentedby ahorse in the field. A $20 win bet will be given to each contestant on the horse whose post position number they're wearing. If their horse crosses the finish line first, the contestant gets to keep the winnings.

Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday and racing will begin at 7:10 p.m. with the richest race on the continent for 2-year-old pacers set for 9:57 p.m. (WEG)
