Monticello Raceway’s Little Grey Jug, a race exclusively for gray and roan colored pacers, filled but had to be scrapped due to being non-competitive. “We attracted 11 entries but of them three were Ray Baines’, to were Bucky Angle’s and two were trained by Dennis Watson,” said Eric Warner, the track's director of racing. “After checking all entries it was determined that we had six that could race but it wasn’t a competitive field. Some horses would have had no chance in against their competition and rather than go with a non-competitive race, we regrettably scrapped it.” Monticello Raceway pioneered the Little Grey Jug in 1990 and every year since has offered the event which became a real fan favorite. But this year there just weren’t enough gray-colored pacers in the immediate area to enter in the race. (Monticello)
