With Monticello Raceway's top drivers Jimmy Devaux, Bruce Aldrich Jr., Jordan Stratton and Greg Merton leading the way, a group of local reinsmen donated their driving percentages from four races on the Dec. 24 race card to a local charity and their total was matched by Monticello Gaming and Raceway.

The recipient of the funds is the Love and Hope For the Children Foundation in Monticello, N.Y., which will use the money to buy holiday presents for the less fortunate children in the area.

“This is the fourth consecutive year that the drivers and the raceway will help make the holiday season brighter for many children who would otherwise not  know the joy of the season,” said Daisy Ellis, president of the Love and Hope For the Children Foundation. “It’s really a wonderful thing that they do.”

Other Mighty M drivers who donated their driving percentages from that day included: Cedric Washington, Mike Merton, Mike Forte, Ken Devaux, Billy Parker Jr., Josh Marks, Robert Williams, General (Bubba) Washington Jr., Joe Moeykens, and Greg Decker Jr.

The third, seventh, ninth and 11th races on Monticello Raceway’s Dec. 24 card were the ones in from which the participating drivers made their donations.

“We are really pleased to participate and donate our (driving) percentages so that some unfortunate children in the area are able to get toys and games which they would otherwise not have received during this season of the year,” said Merton, a former two-time Mighty M driving champ who won the third race with Lil Cams Court which raised his victory total here to 202 this season.

The drivers' percentages totaled $390 and with the match by Monticello Gaming and  Raceway the Love and Hope For The Children Foundation was the recipient of $780. (Monticello)
