Monticello Raceway's leading driver, James Devaux, and his wife, trainer Tammy Devaux, have been temporarily barred from competing at that racetrack pending an investigation into alleged numerous medication violations, according to Monticello general manager Shawn Wiles.
James Devaux is Monticello's leading dash-winning driver with 245 wins in a track-high 1,416 starts (through Oct. 16), with his $1,123,082 in purse earnings placing him second on that list. Tammy Devaux was in a second-place tie on the trainers' dash standings through Oct. 16 with 82 wins in 334 starts, and $296,442 in earnings.
James Devaux was taken off all his drives on Monday and Tuesday's cards, while Tammy Devaux had some horses scratched on Monday and all entries from Tuesday's program. Wiles told harnessracing.com he plans to meet with James and Tammy Devaux on Wednesday and did not have any further information available regarding the investigation.
