Tony Morgan drove his 500th winner of the year Tuesday afternoon at Monticello Raceway, the sixth straight year he has surpassed 500 wins. Only once since 1995 has he failed to reach the 500-win mark, that coming in 2001 when he tallied 478 winners. The four-time Harness Tracks of America Driver of the Year notched his milestone victory with Beautiful Stranger in Monticello's fourth race.
Overall, Morgan, 49, sits second on the 2007 dash list, 183 winners behind runaway leader Tim Tetrick. Morgan, who also stands fourth on the earnings list with $5.4 million, also surpassed the $79 million mark in career earnings on Tuesday at Monticello.
Morgan won 1,004 races last year, joining Walter Case Jr. (1,077 wins in 1998) as the only two drivers to reach the 1,000-win mark in a single season. Morgan's 11,363 career victories places him fourth on the all-time win list.
