'Moses' Tetrick gets the drive on Pampered Princess

Jimmy Takter told harnessracing.com Tuesday morning that he has named Tim Tetrick to drive Pampered Princess in the Hambletonian eliminations Saturday as regular driver John Campbell has to drive Flirtin Man, a colt he shares ownership of.

“I am sure John thinks he will make the final with his own horse,” explained Takter of the switch to the continent’s leading dash and money-winning driver. “And we call Timmy ‘Moses’ now…after he opened up the rail in the Meadowlands Pace (to win with Southwind Lynx). He was very excited to get the drive.”

With Pampered Princess drawing post five in the first elim, and favored Donato Hanover drawing post seven in the third elim, the two champion trotters won’t meet up until the final if both advance after Saturday’s elims.

“I knew I wouldn’t get in against Donato Hanover (in the elims) and that’s a big plus,” Takter noted of the Hambletonian Society’s seeding system for the elims to separate the top horses. “It’s exciting. She is going into the race most likely the second favorite right now. I am pleased with her elimination.”

“People may question a filly against the colts, but I think she deserves it,” he continued. “If you just look at the money aspect, maybe it’s crazy, but people spend so much money in this sport. Winning the Oaks and winning the Hambletonian..that’s like winning two different races.”
